The economy: between health care reform, unemployment, and the budget, it seems like everyone's talking about the economy these days. There are a lot of talking heads on tv, online, and just about everywhere else. So what if you want "Just the facts, ma'am?" I suggest checking out the Beige Book, a brief "State of the Economy"-type document that is published by the Federal Reserve 8 times a year. It's short and provides a very nice snapshot of how the United States is doing. Warning: there are zero pundits beating each other over the head.
Health care reform: in case you were wondering how health care reform might impact your community, check out the House Committee on Energy and Commerce's congressional district-by-district analysis of the reform bill. Need to brush up on the subject so you can figure out what the heck they're talking about? The Wikipedia article on health care reform debate in the United States is a fine place to start. And remember the student loan reform that got tucked into the health care reform bill? Current Saint Martin's University students, you are probably not going to see much of a difference from whatever your current situation is.
